Braden Alvarez runs cross country for Bloomingdale High School. He runs the 5K (3.1 miles). On October 22, at the All County Championships, he ran his best time of 20:15.

Left Shoulder: Isaiah 60:22 "A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I the LORD will hasten it in his time." ("I used that show that even though we were a small and weak team we will still be able to compete and put up a fight with the bigger and stronger teams, and in the end we did and we all came out with big Personal Records.") Right Shoulder: Luke 1:37 "For with God nothing shall be impossible."         Epilogue: Sad but with a happy ending: On Friday, November 1, Braden began choking. That got him a trip to a local ER who had him sent to Tampa General Hospital. The next morning an endoscopy revealed a piece of food lodged in Braden's esophagus, and that food particle was removed. He was given some antibiotics to take over the next week. But he missed the District Championships. Disappointing, especially since his "replacement" ran the 5K two minutes slower than Braden's time. However, the good news is that the medical problem - which could have been very serious - was taken care of without a problem.
